To prepare for business ownership, Jake partnered with the Alaska Small Business Development Center. Kristi McDonnell, Mat-Su Business Advisor, helped him evaluate the acquisition, understand the company’s financial documents, identify areas requiring additional review, and develop plans for long-term stability. She also connected him with professional resources and provided an experienced perspective as decisions became more complex.
With that support, Jake and Caiti completed the acquisition and began the company’s next chapter under local, family ownership. Steel Timber continues to serve Alaska’s property owners while investing in better systems, employee development, jobsite safety, communication, and a more dependable customer experience from the initial estimate through the final walkthrough.
Today, Steel Timber Fence Co. provides privacy fences, residential gates, commercial fence installations, and custom solutions throughout the Mat-Su Valley and Southcentral Alaska. The company specializes in cedar privacy fencing constructed with steel posts, combining the natural appearance of Western Red Cedar with the added durability and wind resistance of steel.
