Helping Alaskans Move Forward with Confidence
After ten years working for the State of Alaska, Teri Webster knew it was time for a change but was unsure what came next. In 2019, she took a road trip and spent time reflecting on what she enjoyed and where her strengths were. She kept coming back to helping people navigate moves, downsizing, estate settlements, aging-in-place decisions, and other significant life changes. After assisting a widow and her sister with moves, she recognized both a natural ability and a clear need in Alaska. Before she officially launched the business, her first client found her through word of mouth. That early opportunity confirmed the demand for her services and led to the creation of Declutter To Move, LLC.
Today, Declutter To Move serves clients throughout Anchorage, Eagle River, the Mat-Su Valley, and surrounding communities. What began as a solo operation has grown into a structured company with eleven employees total, including one full-time and ten part-time team members. Teri is currently Alaska’s only member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO).
Teri originally sought assistance in 2019 from the Alaska SBDC as part of a long-term plan to build a business that could eventually support her retirement. Through improved systems, documented processes, employee development, and consistent growth, she has significantly increased the value and sustainability of the company.
As the business grew, Teri worked closely with Anchorage Business Advisor Trish Moreland at the Alaska SBDC to prepare the company for long term growth and eventual business transition. Through more than six months of weekly advising sessions, they focused on building systems, documenting processes, transitioning contractors to employees, improving financial tracking, and creating a business that was less dependent on the owner. Teri also participated in Alaska SBDC training opportunities to strengthen her management and operational skills.
The results have been significant. Declutter To Move achieved nearly 30 percent revenue growth from 2024 to 2025 and is projected to grow another 20 percent in 2026. One of the most important milestones was transitioning from independent contractors to employees, creating new jobs and building a stronger foundation for growth.
The expanded team now allows the company to take on larger projects, including whole-house decluttering efforts, estate cleanouts, downsizing moves, and multi-day packing and relocation projects. Teri has achieved this growth while maintaining zero business debt, a milestone she is especially proud of.
“Trish has been invaluable to me and the success of my business over the last year. I look forward to our meetings so I can bounce ideas off her or get help working through situations I’m stuck in. She’s a trusted resource I can rely on.”
Looking ahead, Teri plans to continue growing her team, expanding partnerships, and helping more Alaskans successfully navigate major life transitions.
