Service, Perseverance, and a Thriving Fairbanks Business

Running a business is challenging, especially when it’s time to take the next step. For Chris Jeter, a U.S. Army veteran and owner of Lawn Enforcement LLC, that next step meant expanding his Fairbanks lawn care and snow removal company.  And that meant navigating the unfamiliar process of securing funding to make it happen.

“I was fortunate to have worked with the Alaska SBDC when I started the business in 2016, but after years of success and when I decided to expand and to seek funding, I was truly out of my element,” Chris explained. “Fortunately, I remembered the Alaska SBDC and reached back out to them for additional assistance.”

When Chris reconnected with the Fairbanks SBDC, he was introduced to Center Director Jade Greene. “Ms. Greene is truly a powerhouse,” Chris said. “Without missing a beat, she took the time to actively listen to my expansion ideas. She then immediately assisted me with updating financial projections and made sure the projections, along with my business plan, were in alignment with current and future planning.”

Jade also explained various funding opportunities and assisted Chris with the related applications. “With each session, I left with a list of actionable items to complete,” Chris shared. “She gave me detailed suggestions for the loan process and tips on how to make things go as smoothly as possible.”  Jade also helped Chris strengthen other areas of his business in preparation for growth, including reviewing his business structure and licensing, refining cash flow planning, and exploring new marketing avenues to expand his reach.

Chris credits Jade and the Alaska SBDC for helping him move his business forward. “Without her, my loan would not have been funded,” he said. “Even when it became difficult, she would remind me of the adage about how to eat an elephant — one bite at a time.”

With the additional funding, Chris is expanding Lawn Enforcement’s services and outreach, with plans to grow operations in early spring 2026. This expansion now includes a cutting edge , natural ice barrier product that as a deicing agent is formulated to be much more effective than salt or gravel. Chris further explains that this product once applied, prevents the buildup of snow or ice on roadways and driveways. It also has  the added benefit of being environmentally friendly, children and pet friendly.  Again, this would not have occurred, if Ms. Greene was not involved. “She will walk that path with you and will treat your business with the utmost care,” Chris added. “I promise your business will be in the best hands with her.”

Chris looks forward to continuing his partnership with the Fairbanks SBDC and is excited for what’s ahead. “It has been an incredible experience,” he said.
