Premier Janitorial Services:
Making Your Business Shine

Premier Janitorial Services proudly operates as a locally owned family business founded in 2012. With great pride rooted in excellent customer satisfaction and no mess too big, it is no surprise that Premier Janitorial Services is a business running on hard work and integrity.

With his business in high demand, owner Jason Johnson began working with the Alaska Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Wasilla to work on how to best ensure his business could take on the growth. On his business, he shared, “We went to see Julie at the Small Business Development Center to get some guidance and structure for our small, but growing business. We have been in business for 6 years now and have continued to grow at a pace we weren’t quite ready for. Julie was full of knowledge and resources perfect for our business.”

Meeting over the course of a year, Matanuska-Susitna Regional Director and Business Advisor, Julie Nolen worked with and supported Johnson and his business. Johnson shared further, “We started off asking where to start with getting some structure, she suggested a SWOT analysis and meeting with our entire team. We couldn’t even fathom how great the outcome of the first meeting was. We got exponential feedback from our team members themselves on things that, we as a company, were already aware of and working on. We also got feedback on things we hadn’t even thought about. Our team agreed on multiple topics that needed to be addressed and things that they all wanted to see from us as a business. It was a very smooth meeting and Julie was an excellent facilitator, guiding us into territory we weren’t hitting and keeping our team together on the same page.

After our first meeting, we started implementing some of the things we had discussed since we had only finished the first half of our SWOT analysis. You could just see the company coming together as a team and being more open and communicative with not just us, but with each other. We had great turn out and feedback at our first meeting, but I think our second meeting really took off and our team was more comfortable and willing to share things with us that they may have been afraid to before. We have had nothing but success since our meeting and plan for that to continue with future meetings between us and Julie and also meetings between our business and team.

Julie did an excellent job listening to our needs as a business and pointed us in a great direction. We are now closer as a team and have learned how to continue striving where we have our strengths and have learned how to communicate and work on our weaknesses. We are now prepared to grow at the rate we would like to and plan to continue to work with Julie in the near future to continue our success.”

Nolen enjoyed the collaboration and the assistance she was able to provide to Johnson and his team. Reflecting on the past year, she shared, “Jason & Kim Johnson have a family-run janitorial business that has experienced fairly steep growth over the past 6 years. They are very good at working “in the business” and were ready to start focusing more time working “on the business”, which is what leads them to the Alaska SBDC. The Johnsons genuinely care about their team members and are working hard to include them in the development of strategic goals for the business. It has been a pleasure working with the entire Premier Janitorial group in helping them make operational changes to allow them to achieve their fullest potential.”
