The Alaska Small Business Development Center is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as our State Director, the executive who will guide our statewide mission to support and strengthen Alaska’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. For those new to our organization, the Alaska SBDC provides no-cost, confidential business advising, training, and technical assistance to entrepreneurs across every corner of Alaska. As part of the national SBDC network and hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage, we’re Alaska’s trusted resource for business development, capital access, and economic growth.
About This Leadership Role
Our State Director serves as the architect and chief advocate for small business success in Alaska. This executive position encompasses:
- Strategic Leadership: Direct the vision, strategy, and operations of Alaska’s statewide SBDC network
- Federal Grant Management: Serve as Principal Investigator for major federal, state, and private grants, including SSBCI funding
- Statewide Impact: Oversee regional centers and staff, ensuring high-quality service from urban Anchorage to rural Alaska
- National Representation: Act as Alaska’s voice in the national SBDC network and with the U.S. Small Business Administration
- Partnership Building: Cultivate relationships with industry leaders, financial institutions, state agencies, and Alaska’s legislative delegation
- Innovation Champion: Advance cutting-edge initiatives in capital access, technology commercialization, AI resources, and rural business development
