Hispanic Heritage Month – Entrepreneur Round Table

On October 13, Anchorage Center Director Carlos Machuca joined local Hispanic business entrepreneurs for an inspiring Entrepreneur Round Table in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month hosted by Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson.

We were honored to be part of this vibrant gathering, where esteemed panelists shed light on their incredible journeys and entrepreneurial success.

AFN Convention

On October 19-21, State Director Jon Bittner and Rural Business Advisor Ruth Wolfe had an incredible time at the 2023 AFN Convention!

Our team appreciated discussing how the Alaska SBDC can support business owners at every stage of their business no matter where they are in the state, as well as how our work supports the University’s mission to advance Alaska’s economy and workforce.

Alaska SBDC Mat-Su Center Open House

On October 24, we rolled out the red carpet at the Alaska SBDC Mat-Su Center to host an Open House and mark our grand reopening.

We were thrilled to introduce our new Mat-Su Center Director, Misty O’Connor and had the honor of hosting “Financing Your Business: Lending Resources & Strategies for Success” featuring KeyBank Vice President & Senior SBA Relationship Manager, Carrie Callaway Cardy.

Alaska Food & Farm Festival

On November 10-12, Gretchen Fauske, Director of Special Programs & Strategy, and Katie Nave, BuyAlaska Program Director, had inspiring conversations at the 2023 Alaska Food & Farm Festival in Anchorage last weekend.

“The Taste of Local: A Celebration of Alaskan Manufacturers,” was a curated session by Megan Militello of Alaska MEP and Katie Nave, to put the spotlight on the vibrant world of locally sourced and manufactured foods in Alaska.
