Creating the financial projections of a business plan can be an extremely daunting task and often feel like you’re taking a shot in the dark, especially if you’ve never owned a business before. However, the numbers are an essential part of the business plan when you are taking it to a bank for financing. That’s why Evergreen Business Capital referred Josh Griffin and Robert Smith to the Alaska Small Business Development Center in Fairbanks in July 2014.
Together they were looking to purchase an existing business called Badger Towing and Recovery LLC and needed assistance with the business plan. Fairbanks Director Russell Talvi reviewed what they had put together and explained appropriate growth levels for their industry, while looking for red flags that might give a bank second thoughts before funding their venture. Talvi, Griffin and Smith worked on several iterations of the plan until it was ready to submit for funding.
“As new business owners, the level of support from SBDC has been unparalleled through the startup and purchase process, and continues to be a source of answers for business related questions.” – Josh Griffin
Both Griffin and Smith are Army Veterans and have run recovery operations throughout their military careers. Crossing over into the civilian sector has been the goal for both owners for some time and they are proud to be veteran owned and operated while serving the Fairbanks community.
In addition to towing services, their new business Badger Towing and Recovery LLC also provides roadside assistance, winchout service, private property impounds, vehicle disposal, lockout services and emergency response. You can learn more about the business at their website or give them a call at 907-457-4357.
