Double Shovel Cider Company
launches into second year
Tearing into its second year of business, Double Shovel Cider Company is Alaska’s first micro-cidery… and they’re taking the State by storm. A very … tasty … storm.
The men behind this hit-of-a-business are committed to hand-crafted, dry, hard ciders that tickle the taste buds without being too sweet. With ever-evolving and gluten free Alaskan flavors, DSCC has something for everyone on tap at over 120 locations in Southcentral and Interior Alaska.
Brothers Jack and Jerry Lau with co-owner/co-founder Galen Jones, worked relentlessly to join in the revival of the American cider scene. With an abundance of beer breweries opening up across the State and recognizing the fast-growing cider scene in the Pacific Northwest (and across the country), they set out to refine their recipes, gather finances, and market their brand. With all of them being full-time engineers, they spent two years of their spare time from original concept to final build-out before they sold their first keg.
Working closely with the Anchorage Small Business Development Center (SBDC) they focused on completing a robust business plan, as well as creating and validating financial projections; keys to a successful business start-up. They built relationships with financial institutions, won the hearts of fellow-cider lovers, and partner with small businesses across the State almost weekly. DSCC launched wholesale distribution in June 2016 and opened their on-site tasting room the following September.
With heart, integrity, and a delightful cider selections, Double Shovel Cider Co. is just popping the top.
