When Taylor Ashton and Cesar Ramirez took over Moose Horn LLC on October 1st, 2024, they saw it as more than just running a business—they wanted to become an integral part of the Haines community. They were excited to build on the hard work of the previous owners and inspired to provide essential services for residents and visitors alike.
Moose Horn is unique in Haines, offering a variety of services under one roof: a coin-operated laundromat, wash-and-fold laundry, showers, apartment rentals, car detailing, and both residential and commercial cleaning.
Taking over an established business with so many services was both exciting and challenging. Taylor and Cesar needed to learn daily operations quickly and maintain the high standards customers had come to expect. They also needed a solid plan for purchasing the business, managing finances, and structuring it for growth.
The Alaska Small Business Development Center (AK SBDC) stepped in to help, with advisor Ruth Wolfe guiding Taylor and Cesar through each step. Ruth offered insights on how to structure Moose Horn effectively and set up financial systems to ensure smooth operations.
With her guidance, Taylor and Cesar gained confidence in budgeting, cash flow management, and planning for future growth, allowing them to focus on creating a positive customer experience.

As they look to the future, Taylor and Cesar plan to expand their convenience food services and explore partnerships with local businesses. They also plan to offer seasonal promotions to attract more customers. Their vision for Moose Horn goes beyond simply providing cleaning services; they want to make Haines a more connected and convenient place for everyone.
