Amazon is Coming to Alaska! Exclusive Workshops for Small Business Owners

March 26, 2025

The Alaska Small Business Development Center (Alaska SBDC) is excited to bring Amazon’s Small Business Partnerships and Education team to Alaska for a special three-city workshop series designed to help small business owners start, grow, and scale their businesses using Amazon’s platforms.

Whether you’re a product-based business looking to expand your online presence, an artisan exploring Amazon Handmade, or an entrepreneur interested in leveraging Amazon’s ecosystem, these hands-on, practical workshops will provide the tools and strategies you need to succeed.

Amazon’s Impact in Alaska

Since 2010, Amazon has invested $80 million in Alaska, including infrastructure, compensation to employees, and other key initiatives. In addition to these direct investments, Amazon has contributed $75 million to Alaska’s GDP. As of January 2024, 100 full-time and part-time jobs have been created, with 500 indirect jobs supported across the state.

Notably, over 400 independent Alaskan sellers are currently active on Amazon, many of them small and medium-sized businesses. In 2023, these sellers collectively sold more than 300,000 items, with the average independent seller in Alaska generating more than $25,000 in sales. Additionally, more than 60% of sales on Amazon’s platform come from small and medium businesses, underscoring Amazon’s support for local enterprises.
