TREND Increases Phase 0 Grant Funding for Alaskan Innovators

The Alaska SBDC’s Technology Research Education and Development (TREND) program at the UAA Business Enterprise Institute is pleased to announce a significant increase in funding for its Phase 0 grant program. Alaskan innovators can now receive up to $10,000 in total Phase 0 support costs for their Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) proposals, which was previously up to $5,000.

TREND Phase 0 provides essential feedback and guidance to help Alaskan businesses and residents develop competitive federal research and development funding applications.

Key Dates and Information:

  • July 9 – September 19, 2024 –  Early application deadline to receive an initial review for application completeness and compliance
  • September 26, 2024 –  Phase 0 grant application period closes
  • September 26 – October 16, 2024 –  The TREND Phase 0 Committee will evaluate the application packets and the winning applicants will be announced during the week of October 21, 2024.
  • November 2024 – Phase 0 grant funds awarded and disbursed

To be eligible for Phase 0 funding, applicants must be Alaskan residents or businesses and submit a draft SBIR Phase I or II proposal for preliminary review.
