It’s not every day that an Alaskan business is contracted out to create a small glass replica of the Millennium Falcon. But that’s just what happened to Shawn Woods, owner of NSEW Awards. Take one look at the work Woods displays on his website (http://www.nsewawards.com/) and it’s easy to see why his company was chosen to create 40 of the palm-sized replicas which would be given as merger gifts to members of The Walt Disney Co, and Lucasfilm Ltd. His attention to detail and precision in his craft has made NSEW a successful company since its launch in 2012.
Woods first approached the Alaska Small Business Development Center in Juneau about six months into his first year of business. He has owned a similar business before but was looking for assistance in obtaining a small loan he was planning to use to market his business and create an engaging website. Ian Grant and Woods discussed several marketing tactics that he could implement quickly and also worked on the business plan Woods had completed to make sure it was ready to bring to a bank.
Woods was able to obtain the loan and quickly started seeing incredible growth. Woods and Grant changed their focus to create a plan to manage the growth effectively while still capitalizing on the media buzz from his huge success.
“The Alaska Small Business Development Center provided guidance and objective information to make educated business decisions” said Woods about his work with Grant.
NSEW Awards has an extensive portfolio of special occasion engravings, corporate gifts and awards that it can offer to its clients. You can view his work on his website, nsewawards.com.
