Nauti Otter is a 2013 recipient of the certificate of excellence from tripadvisor.com which is awarded based off of reviews left by satisfied customers.  An overwhelmingNauti Otter pic 1 number of critics have mentioned that Heather is the best part of staying at the hostel; her outgoing personality and extensive knowledge of the area makes their stay the perfect Alaskan experience. Heather purchased the Nauti Otter from its previous owners after traveling to Alaska for a vacation in 2008. Once she got to Seward, the owners offered Heather free room and board in exchange for an extra hand during her stay…and she loved it so much she never left!

logoHeather approached the Alaska Small Business Development Center on the Kenai Peninsula in November of 2009. She was looking at several funding options and worked with Bryan Zak in order to work on the financial projections and apply for a loan. Heather and Bryan worked on several iterations of the projections and ultimately were able to secure a loan to purchase the business.

The Nauti Otter has found a niche in providing housing to adventurers looking to travel on a budget in the Seward area of Alaska. Customers can choose from a number of different sleeping arrangements such as the dorm style hostel room, private rooms or cabins, and even a renovated trailer! The website also features several adventure packages customized for every type of Alaskan adventurer including whale watching, fishing, dog sledding, glacier exploration and much more.
