King’s Barbershop

King’s Barbershop opened five years ago in 2009 by Ketchikan local Nicole Van Horn who wanted a funky and family friendly barbershop where anyone could go to get a superior cut, color and style.

King'slogoAfter doing business for about a year, Nicole visited the Alaska Small Business Development Center in Ketchikan. Her business was growing and she was looking into the financial impact of hiring a new employee. She continued to work with the SBDC as her business expanded and worked frequently with Business Advisor Linda Koons Auger on scaling her business from a small operation to a full time barber shop with several employees.

“I came to the SBDC feeling completely overwhelmed and out of my league as a small business owner,” said Nicole, “Linda helped me figure out Profit vs. Loss reports, how to properly track business costs, and an easier way of doing payroll for my employees”.barbershop
Most recently, Nicole and Linda discussed future plans for King’s Barbershop that could both increase the bottom line and provide greater convenience for Nicole’s clients.

King’s Barbershop is located at 5 Salmon Landing Suite 211 in Ketchikan and is open Monday through Saturday. You can book an appointment online through their website for the latest news and samples of their work.
