Garyn Johnson opened Airmed Medical & Career Apparel when she noticed a lack of medical apparel options for medical professionals and students in Anchorage. Johnson’s selection is the largest in the state- offering a wide variety of designs and fits so that anyone can feel comfortable and stylish at work!
Johnson came to the Alaska Small Business Development Center in 2011 while she was writing the business plan and has remained a client ever since. She has worked with our Mat-Su Center Director, Julie Nolen, as she opened her doors and returned for assistance as she made strategic decisions to grow the business effectively.
Johnson recently hit a huge milestone for any business owner- five years in business. 95% of small businesses are reported to have failed within the first five years and one of the reasons Johnson has remained profitable is her strategic thinking. Most recently, Johnson decided to merge her two stores into one convenient location- adding other professional clothing options to Airmed’s racks.
Johnson is now working to rebrand the business as a one-stop shop for any and all medical or career apparel needs and is building her digital presence at the same time.
“The SBDC online tools are a must for any business owner in any stage of business” said Johnson, “The SBDC program is a well-constructed and valuable asset to Alaskan small business owners”.
Airmed Medical and Career Apparel is located at 3701 E Tutor Road. For more information about Airmed or to take a look at their selection, visit their website.
