Right here in Alaska, small businesses have been pursuing government contracts in a broad array of industries, including (but not limited to):

In FY 2009, federal spending in Alaska was in excess of $482 million. 130 Alaska Small Businesses statewide were awarded federal, state, and local government contracts that totaled almost $150 million.
Let’s break that down and look at the values of awarded contracts, by five Alaska districts:
